Service
While all three principles (Leadership, Friendship and Service) are essential to the foundation of Alpha Phi Omega, service is the ultimate reason we have joined together. It is the tie that binds us and the very reason for the existence of our Fraternity. Alpha Phi Omega is committed to a four-fold service program: service to the campus, service to the community, service to the nation, and service to the Fraternity and its members. There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer, and at the heart of every Brother’s reason for joining is a love for service. Tau Chapter has been dedicated to providing a strong, balanced service program for any and every student at the University of Florida since its installation in 1931.
Anyone can attend our service projects, regardless of membership in Alpha Phi Omega. If you are interested in meeting members and seeing what Tau Chapter is all about, please consider joining us at one of our projects. Simply stop by the Turlington Information Booth near the HUB and the CSE building, or e-mail the Service VP for more details.

Ways to Get Service Hours
- Weekday Service project
- Weekend Service projects
- Concessions *Talk to Treasurer*
- Committee Hours (Brother 9 hr max , Pledge 4 hr max)
- Outside Hours *Brothers Only*
- Other: Donate Blood (.5 hr), Locks of Love (1 hr), Ink Cartridges (.5 hr each, 4 cart. max), Voting (.5hr)
- Write first and last name of brothers and pledges.
- Email the list of names and the hours to the SVP as soon as possible.
- Make sure brothers who leave early or stay longer let you know, so you can write down the right hours.
- If you want to guarantee that you did not miss anyone, get everyone’s names down before the project starts, then check the list again right before the project ends.
- If there are pledges, check for their pledge pins.
- Brothers: Verbally let the liaison know that you are there, it makes it less likely that they will miss you.
- If hours don’t get turned in you don’t get hours. Be sure to email the SVP!
- Make sure you include half of your total travel time into service hours. So if it took an hour to drive to and from service, then a half hour of service will be added.
- Remember, as the project liaison it is not just your responsibility to write down names. You are there to make sure brothers and pledges are representing Alpha Phi Omega positively, especially if the SVP is not at the project.
